ISTE Standards & Artifacts

The ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) Standards are in place to provide guidelines that help teachers, students, educational leaders, and coaches create and utilize the most effective technology learning environment possible.  Included below are artifacts from my courses taken at UNK, as well as lessons I created for my students.

2.3.d Model and promote management of personal data and digitally identify and protect student data privacy.

Citizen

The following artifact is a slideshow I made for my Copyright, Fair Use, and Ethics class.  This slideshow covers what copyright and fair use are and gives an introduction to the TEACH Act.

2.5.a Use technology to create, adapt, and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.

Designer

The PDF artifact is an infographic I created on 5 ways to study for math.  Creating an infographic targets different learning styles, improves retention, simplifies topics, and are visually engaging.

1.1.c Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.

Learner

The Color by Code artifact is a great tool to use with my students.  It gives the students immediate feedback based on whether part of the picture disappears when they enter in an answer.  If the picture does not reveal parts after an answer is entered, it means the answer is wrong.

2.6.c Create learning opportunities that challenge students to use a design process and computational thinking to innovate and solve problems.

Facilitator

At the end of our decimal unit, students were asked to create a graphic organizer displaying the four types of decimal computation rules with an example included.  Prior to the students creating their own, I supplied my own example and talked through how to use technology to create their own.  Students could create this on Canva, Google Drawings, etc.

2.7.a Use technology to design and implement a variety of formative and summative assessments that accommodate learner needs, provide timely feedback to students and inform instruction.

Analyst

The interactive book is a great resource for students on the autism spectrum, students with dyslexia, or students that are blind.  The interactive book includes voice overs for the slides, correct and incorrect feedback slides and interactive buttons.  This not only helps with students that struggle to read, but also keeps them engaged!

2.2.b Advocate for equitable access to educational technology, digital content and learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of all students.

Leader

The Low Tech Communication board allows for students who are without intelligible speech to communicate with their classmates and teachers.  The attached PowerPoint shows an assignment I created in a class that meets those students needs when defining and recalling mean, median, mode and range.

2.4.a Dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology.

Collaborator

A couple UNK classmates and I created a website to advertise a "fake" date that will host an EdTech camp.  We created a website and focused on the design and information to be easy to read and engaging.
